Wouldn't grab them if intruders already in house, but if I have some warning, I'd rather have and not need than need and not have. I'd keep eye protection available as well. All for the 2 seconds it takes to put them on your head. would say, and yet, protect your hearing when shots are fired. With them cranked all the way up, you have "superhuman hearing" as Mas A. I agree with having electronic muffs available for HD. I'm not sure I agree with the above, but it's the most common SOP for many shotgun owners that I've heard from. Any hesitation on their part would be construed as preparation for an attack or prepping to go for a weapon. Or see a blinding white light and then hear a warning to leave immediately or be shot if they are unarmed. Some people say it's better that an intruder see a blinding white light followed by muzzle flash if they're armed. Nothing to stop an armed intruder from sending rounds in your direction the moment they hear the slide action. I disagree with using a "sound" as a deterrent, no matter how scary one might believe it to be. And if that does not work, he gets one in center mass to help him learn. I might be able to scare the intruder off before having to engage with the simple sound that everyone knows. The sound of chambering a round is a deterent in itself which is my favorite feature.
Currently my primary weapon in this event is a Remington 870P with an original Remington overfolder poice stock.
